T’Vondre Sweat found himself in a pickle after his arrest on Sunday. The former Texas Longhorns DT and younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles DL Josh Sweat was projected to enter the 2024 NFL Draft as a fourth-round pick as per The Athletic’s Dane Brugler’s draft guide. But could it be?
The Cincinnati Bengals met with Sweat, who’s the 10th defensive tackle on this year’s draft boards. He’s a talented player on the field who won The Associated Press’ Big 12 Conference’ 2023 best defensive player. But Brugler’s recent release of “The Beast” could question prospective NFL teams to reconsider their choices in drafting the unanimous All-America selection.

Dane Brugler reported that Sweat’s meetings with prospective teams involved him discussing his “partying” during his college days in Texas. And to put the matter in a worse condition, the star college DT was pressed for a DWI charge on Sunday around 2:12 PM when the draft day was just about two weeks away. He may have an impressive field achievement winning the Outland Trophy for the best interior defensive lineman in the nation, but his questionable behavior is likely to blow off his candle with the Bengals who had a prior interest in drafting him.

Cincinnati Bengals could reconsider their interest in T’Vondre Sweat
Entering the draft as one of the top DT prospects, Sweat was a target for the Bengals who met with him last week as part of his Top 30 visit. The 366-pounder won the team’s interest during the NFL Combine, inciting HC Zac Taylor to be in attendance at his pro day before leading up to last week’s visit. But after all the recent shady unfolding of the 22-year-old prospect, the Bengals might not be seeing him in the same light as they did last week.

T’Vondre Sweat spent five seasons in Texas. Last season, he didn’t miss any of the 14 games and was a major contributor to the Longhorns’ defense recording two career-high sacks. He also broke his career record with 45 total tackles and a touchdown. Aside from Brugler’s fourth-round grade projection, some NFL draft analysts also had him as a second-round pick. But all this hype may be about to change as his worst came out at the most inopportune time.
