Deion Sanders is back with his fishing rod! But this time, he’s not battling his Buffs’ star players; instead, it’s the father of a CU Buffs prodigy.

Deion tangled lines with Buffs’ safety, Carter Stoutmire’s dad, Omar A. Stoutmire! Back in the day, Omar was also a safety, playing for the Dallas Cowboys in the ’90s — right around the time he struck up a friendship with Deion, who was then dazzling fans as the “Neon Deion” cornerback. Their bond clearly hasn’t faded, and now they’re adding some playful fishing bragging rights to the mix.

Coach Prime, ever the showman, took to Instagram to document his victory. Deion calmly begins the video by pointing at Omar and saying, “You up 4 fish, he thinks this is the day with the Goliath story. He wants to make me his Goliath and he is David. Look what happens. I’m right where god wants me to be.” Clearly feeling confident, Omar sees himself as the underdog David taking down the mighty Goliath (Deion).

But hold on! Things take a hilarious turn! After lunch, the tables flip. Deion becomes the relentless hunter, leaving Omar “falling apart” as Deion gleefully fishes him into submission. We even get a classic Deion Sanders moment where he playfully throws shade, saying, “You must don’t know who I’m. I’m Deion Luwynn Sanders!”

In the end, Coach Prime emerges victorious, overcoming a 5-fish deficit to win by 4. He even shared a photo of his impressive catches, thanking himself (of course) for his “confidence, patience & commitment to being the BEST PRIVATE LAKE BASS FISHERMAN IN THE COUNTRY.”

This is quite the win for Coach Prime, especially following a recent fishing loss to his Buffs’ two-way star.

Travis Hunter outwits Deion Sanders in a fishing competition

Deion Sanders is known for his love of fishing. He even has his private lake, Prime Lake, down in Dallas! But he might have some competition brewing in his backyard — or lake.

Deion recently got himself a brand new Bass Cat Boat, all decked out in his signature Buffaloes’ colors and his nickname, Prime. He couldn’t resist showing it off on Instagram, even tagging his star player, Travis Hunter, for a friendly challenge. Hunter, not one to back down, playfully commented, “I still have the biggest fish out of there remember that,” Deion, with a wink, replied, “I don’t know if that’s true.”

The playful banter turned into a real fishing showdown just two weeks ago. Hunter surprised everyone by completely dominating Coach Prime in a bass fishing competition on Sanders’ own Lake Prime! The final score was a crushing 10 to 3 in Hunter’s favor. It looks like the tables turned, with Hunter becoming the underdog David taking down the mighty Goliath, Coach Prime.
