When the spring transfer portal window opened on April 16, no one expected that Colorado would be losing at least a dozen players to it. But reality hit hard when one player after another decided to leave Deion Sanders’ program to try their luck elsewhere. As of today, the CU Buffs lost over 12 players, including Cormani McClain and starter Savion Washington.
Other notable players who left the program include Chazz Wallace, Tar’Varish Dawson, and Isaiah Jatta, among others. With so many players leaving despite the promises that Coach Prime is delivering, his credibility is inevitably questioned. But Shedeur Sanders stands up on defense to clear the air of doubt.

Shedeur Sanders, the team’s QB, has a powerful message for the critics, “If you’re not playing here, that just means you’re doing something wrong.” His recent post on X further reinforces the team’s strength, “Everybody that’s in is in and Everybody that’s out been out. Trust me we Good Regardless.”

After the departure of 5-star recruit Cormani McClain, fans were left questioning the state of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. However, Deion Sanders, the team’s coach, has unequivocally expressed his trust in the recruiting team and coaches, “We’re good. I trust the recruiting team. I trust our coaches and please have some faith in me. We’re good. We are all right.” This reassurance should inspire confidence in the team’s future.

Coach Prime’s influence has slowly but steadily reached several players who entered the transfer portal. As of today, the Buffs welcomed four new transfers, including star Pitt DE Dayon Hayes, the most hyped player among the transfers and considered the best defensive end in the portal. Last season, he led Pitt in tackles for loss (10.5), 45 total tackles, four sacks, and six hurries.
Colorado also secured Ohio State RB Dallan Hayden, who didn’t see much action in 2023. But he rushed for 553 yards and five TDs in 2022. The portal also saw Ohio DT Rayyan Buell, who recorded 39 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his two seasons at Ohio, and 4-star transfer Texas OT Payton Kirkland. Coach Prime also said potential transfers could involve visiting over the weekend. So, while they’re losing, they’re getting some, and it looks like they’re in good hands.
