Amidst Plans to Leave the Conference, Mike Norvell’s FSU Faces Critical Challenges Before Orange Bowl Clash with Georgia
Follow Us
We have to sympathize with Mike Norvell! This isn’t the best year for FSU who had to file more than one lawsuit this season. The Seminoles not only had a lawsuit filed against the College Football Playoff committee, but they also sued the ACC for proposing $572M for them to leave the conference. And now another issue has arisen that needs immediate address.
It’s not something unexpected that Mike Norvell lost a huge bunch of players after the CFP snub. But the number of players leaving the program is concerning. Fingers are crossed as Florida State will enter the 2024 season with a fresh set of players, much different than the ones who won every single game this season.

Ever since their CFP snub, the Seminoles haven’t been the same and the prospective outcome of the bowl game looks foreboding. Mike Norvell is having a tough time retaining his players who are looking for better opportunities elsewhere. A recent IG post by Sports Illustrated reports that “over 20 FSU players have opted out of the Orange Bowl against Georgia.”
After the recent departure of WR Keon Coleman for the NFL draft, the Seminoles have seen many of their players either entering the transfer portal or the NFL before their showdown against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Some of the key players who’ll not be making it to the playoffs include their star QB Jordan Travis who suffered a season-ending leg injury, QB Tate Rodemaker, and rusher Trey Benson.
