The hype behind the Army-Navy rivalry game

The Army-Navy game, also called ‘America’s Game,’ is a highly popular rivalry game that has been nationally televised each year on either CBS, ABC, or NBC since 1945. The Navy Midshipmen is the series winner leading with 62-54-7 boasting the largest victory (51-0 in 1973) and longest win streak (14 from 2002-2015). However, in their last game, they lost double overtime to the Black Knights 20-17 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

This year will mark the first time the game is played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. With mutual agreement from both teams, they declared a five-year cycle of games in 2022. Both teams suffered an unsatisfactory season record losing their playoff chances as they’re set to enter this year’s rivalry game with 5-6 each. Army and Navy ranks 9th and 14th in the nation with 208.3 and 200.5 rushing yards per game.

Where to watch the 124th Army-Navy game?

The 124th Army-Navy game kickoff will begin on Saturday at 3 PM on CBS. For the upcoming game coverage on CBS, Brad Nessler will be the broadcaster, Gray Danielson will serve as the color commentator and Jenny Dell will be the sideline reporter. In addition, fans can also tune in to CBS Sports Network’s “Inside College Football: Army-Navy March-On presented by USAA” from 12-1:30 PM.

ESPN’s “College GameDay” will also go live from 10 AM-12 PM in Lot 5B outside of Gillette Stadium. Steve Belichick, HC Bill Belichick’s father and Navy’s coach for 33 years, will be the “guest picker” of the show. Another way to watch the Army-Navy game is to stream on WBAL Radio from 12 PM-2 PM on “The Navy Football Special Edition Army-Navy Insider Show.”

According to predictions, Army is entering the game as a 3-point favorite over Navy. There is no telling if Navy will be able to make up for the double-overtime loss last year and remain in the lead. Be sure to tune in on time so you don’t miss out on any exciting moments in the game.
