Deion Sanders is looking at the prospect of his star QB Shedeur Sanders leaving in the 2025 NFL Draft. Coach Prime is very confident in projecting his son among the top four QBs in the 2025 class, as evidenced by the recent changes in the coaching staff. His potential replacement? Well, it’s a certain five-star QB out of Carrollton HS, who paid a return visit to Boulder over the weekend.

In January, it was reported that the Georgia Player of the Year, Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis visited Boulder to meet with Prime and now he’s back. He recently made an interesting update on X where he posted a picture of his father T. Carlton Lewis and Deion Sanders at the Colorado Buffs practice facility. He tagged the two huge figures in his life and captioned, “Thanks for always caring about what’s best for me.”

The USC QB met the Buffs earlier during a visit on the final weekend of January. Currently, a junior at Carrollton High School in Georgia, Lewis is the second-ranked QB in his class and the No. 8 overall prospect. He was originally a top recruit in the 2026 class but was later recategorized to the 2025 class.

Last season, Lewis passed for 3,094 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. Lewis was named as the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year for his efforts in 2023, leading Carrollton to a 11-2 season and 7A quarterfinals appearance. In his freshman season, Lewis helped Carrollton reach the 7A state final and set a state final record with 531 passing yards in a loss.

As such, the Buffs may see him as the rightful heir to Shedeur, but to sway him won’t be an easy task. Lewis is an elite player with interests in various schools, so it’s going to be a hard fight to acquire this valuable asset. Though he remains committed to USC, he is keeping his options open and the Buffs aren’t only the team he may be interested in.

At 6’1, Julian Lewis is one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class. The 5-star jewel has already amassed credibility in his high school winning several titles including MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year. He also ranks as the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia. Apart from the return trip to Colorado, he has already visited Alabama, Georgia and Auburn.

He also has a USC visit lined up for March 30 and an official trip to Georgia on May 31. Thus Buffs and Deion Sanders will have to ward off stiff competition if they are to secure his services.

But considering that Coach Prime already met with Julian Lewis and his father and the young prospect seems to admire the coach, he may end up at Boulder. With the “Prime Effect” in full motion, Buffs’ fans have reason to be optimistic.
