Woody declared Jayden Daniels as his first pick when he said, “I felt like Jayden Daniels is the is number one prospect for me because he does the ordinary things that’s asked of a quarterback. He does them better than Caleb Williams,” Jayden Daniels, recipient of the prestigious Heisman trophy for 2023, was drafted from LSU to Arizona. He is considered by many as the second-best QB in the draft, after Caleb Williams.

Though Jayden Daniels is Woody’s preference, he did acknowledge the potential of Caleb Williams. He said, “But if Caleb Williams is the number one pick, he’s going to play. Make no mistake about it.” Woody further added, “He is… you’re not going to draft him number one and sit him for a year. They, Chicago Bears just can’t do that. He’s going to play and he’s going to have to. It’s going to be trial by fire with him in the lineup from week one.

Well, Woody isn’t too far away with his assessment as Caleb Williams has been the top performer among the newcomers, which led to him winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022. But will it be enough to perform in the NFL?

Ryan Leaf lays down the challenges ahead of Caleb Williams

Former NFL player and analyst, Ryan Leaf was invited to The Dan Patrick Show where he spoke about Caleb Williams. Although Ryan Leaf acknowledges the potential of Caleb Williams, he also expressed caution for Caleb Williams’ performance.

Leaf cited the difference between college football and the NFL when he said, “75 per cent of what made him [Caleb Williams] so great in college is not transferable to the NFL. He is a guy that I don’t think can be a starter on Day One.” Interestingly, Woody’s remarks during the Get Up podcast came after Leaf’s comments were displayed.
