April 11th was a day of sadness for football fans and more so for Colorado and Texas. Keith Miller III, a former Buffs WR who later went on to Texas, tragically passed away in his apartment. While the cause of his death remains a mystery, it left a mark on many in the college football space.

In a heartfelt tribute, Brenden Rice, a wide receiver for the LA Chargers, got a tattoo in honor of his late teammate Keith Miller III. However, the comment section quickly turned sour. The altercation began when @theartofresell sarcastically commented, “I didn’t know my 4-year-old son can do tattoos,” referring to the quality of the tattoo. This prompted Jada Rice, Brenden’s sister, to defend her brother. She first asked, “How much does he charge?” to which @theartofresell replied, “Depends… daddy paying or?” referring to the fact that Jada and Brenden are children of well-established NFL legend Jerry Rice.

The exchange concluded with Jada’s sharp retort, “idk depends, maybe your wife should’ve swallowed instead,” effectively shutting down the hater. The tattoo gesture by Brenden shows how close he and Miller were. The passing of the former Buffs WR at such a young age was heartbreaking for many more.

All those who mourned

Texas A&M-Commerce head coach Clint Dolezel expressed his heartbreak, saying, “We are heartbroken by Keith’s unexpected passing.” Dolezel further went on to appreciate Keith for being an amazing teammate and son and also gave his condolences to Miller’s family. Similarly, Texas A&M-Commerce’s director of athletics, Jim Curry, also shared his sentiments, stating, “We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller.” Curry said. The condolences from Texas stand as proof of how short but impactful Miller’s personality and career were.

Colorado also shared their message regarding Miller. On a sweet Instagram post with Keith’s picture, Buffs’ account said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Buff, Keith Miller.” Also, Miller’s girlfriend, Caila Jae, took to Instagram to express her grief, posting a heartfelt message alongside a photo of the couple. “I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you,” she wrote. “I will never love anyone the way I loved you. See you soon.” This yet again brings forth the fact that Miller was an amazing human being and he treated everyone in his life in a proper way. Rest in peace, Miller.
