Deion Sanders‘ recent outburst about his players’ rankings in the EA Sports College Football 25 video game is raising eyebrows. While many coaches prioritize on-field performance, Deion’s vocal criticism sparked debate about his priorities.

This drama unfolded during the recent SEC Media Days. While young guns were getting bombarded with questions about their rankings in the EA Sports College Football 25, Georgia’s quarterback, Carson Beck, stepped up with a response that left everyone feeling Zen. When asked about his ranking, the uber-cool Beck simply shrugged and said, “Rate me wherever you want. I’m just going to go do the real thing in real life. I’m not really too worried about a video game.”

On July 22, a UGA Football on Dawg Post praised Beck for this chill response and noted, “He wasn’t necessarily responding to Deion Sanders’ comment about Shedeur Sanders and Beck being tied.” He then expressed his confusion over Deion’s focus on a video game. He pointed out, “It is kind of a curious thing for a head coach to talk about that. You know, I don’t like how one of my players, or two of my players in this case are where they ranked in this fictitious video game.”

The video also went in on Deion’s high profile and noted how everyone keeps a close eye on him, so everything he says gets picked apart. It’s like being under a magnifying glass! It looks like Coach Prime needs to choose his words a little more carefully next time he goes on a rant. But this time, there was no escaping the critics.

Deion Sanders challenges EA Sports’ rankings

Even after leading his Georgia Bulldogs to a fantastic 13-1 season with a jaw-dropping 24 touchdowns and 3,914 passing yards, Carson Beck somehow landed at #18 in the EA Sports rankings. And the #17 spot went to Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders, who put up respectable numbers (27 touchdowns and 3,230 yards) but on a losing team. Both Beck and Shedeur were tied with an overall rating of 93. Things got spicy here, as Deion Sanders wasn’t thrilled with the tie.  He publicly questioned it during the Big 12 media day, saying, “I’m just trying to figure how Shedeur can be tied with another person. How did that happen?”

But Deion didn’t stop there. He also took issue with the ranking of his #1 wide receiver, Travis Hunter. The true two-way star received a very impressive 95 overall rating and the #6 spot among all. Still, Coach Prime wasn’t satisfied. “How can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football?” he demanded, insisting Hunter deserved a perfect 99.

Look, Deion clearly believes in his players, and that’s awesome! But a lot of them are scratching their heads here. Why would a head coach get so worried about a video game ranking? After all, it’s just an entertainment!
