Shedeur Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are doing it again! After their unique on-field trend that had the CFB world talking even last fall camp, they’re back again with it. But this time, Deion Sanders and the Buffs found themselves in a deeper trench after Dan Lanning’s quote went viral last season.

Last season, the Buffs started on a promising note under Deion Sanders’ first year as Colorado’s HC. The hype was immense, and the celebration was intense for the first three games. This is where Oregon HC Lanning came in to deliver his raw thoughts on Colorado ahead of their game, where they would ultimately crush the Buffs 42-6. And now that the Buffs are back for the fall camp wearing their socials on their back, internet users are full of spite towards Deion Sanders as they endorsed Lanning’s quote.

On August 1, sportscenter uploaded an IG post featuring the Buffs playing during the 2024 fall camp on Wednesday. What stood out was that Shedeur Sanders and the players sported jerseys that had their social handles on the back. The caption in the post read, “Colorado put the players’ social media usernames on their jerseys.” This incited a flurry of responses from naysayers who said, “Dan Lanning was right.”

When Colorado’s social popularity skyrocketed last season, Dan Lanning hurled them to the ground saying, “They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins.” But what many people don’t understand is that this same style happened even before Deion Sanders’s first regular game in 2023. And why did they come up with this idea? As Coach Prime then said, “Everybody wants to be noticed. Everybody wants to be followed, everybody wants to be that person, so why not help them?” The then OC Sean Lewis also said, “Give the guys an opportunity to build their brand and I think it’s an outstanding job by (Deion) to think outside the box and offer that unique perspective.” Still, the keyboard warriors have a lot to say to drag Deion Sanders and the Buffs down.

CFB world blasts CU Buffs social media jerseys

A user on IG seems to have come to a realization. They wrote, “Oregon calling them a social media school really makes sense now.” But are they really playing for clicks alone?

Another hater commented, “Should be playing for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back…” If they missed what Shedeur said last season of the same, he said, “I’m not really focused on what’s on the back of my jersey. I’m focused on what’s on the front of my jersey, Colorado and representing.”

Another person complained along the same lines saying, “All about themselves and not about the team…” Perhaps they should revisit the past to brush up on the history.

There are some whose comments are tinged with sarcasm, “Ahh goood. I was worried I couldn’t find Shedeurs instagram.” Will the hate ever end?

Still, one user made a bold claim. They wrote, “The reason why they’ll never get close to where they want to go.” We’ll see about that when the Buffs kick off their season on August 29.
