The exodus continues for Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes, as multiple star players enter the transfer portal. Following Dylan Edwards, a former four-star recruit from Kansas, cornerback Cormani McClain, a former five-star prospect, another saught-after starting defensive back for the Colorado Buffaloes, has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, seeking new opportunities elsewhere.

Following Cormani McClain’s unexpected exit, Coach Prime faced a barrage of scrutiny regarding the state of the Buffaloes’ program. McClain’s remarks about prioritizing publicity over performance raised concerns about the team’s values, especially amid a flurry of departures during the Spring transfer window. However, the Buffaloes stand united and have been able to remain confident irrespective of the Spring exodus.

During the 2023 season, Edwards made significant contributions to Colorado’s offense, displaying his versatility with impressive rushing and receiving stats. His standout performance against TCU, where he tallied three touchdowns and 135 receiving yards, underscored his impact on the field. Joining Edwards in the transfer portal are fellow rushers Wilkerson and McCaskill, both of whom played important roles in the team’s backfield. Wilkerson showcased his ability with 190 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Alton McCaskill, despite limited opportunities due to injury, contributed to the team’s efforts.

Additionally, the departure of leading rusher Hankerson and cornerback McClain presents challenges for the Buffaloes ahead of the 2024 season. Coach Prime faces the task of filling these gaps as the spring transfer portal offers potential replacements until April 30th. As Colorado continues to make adjustments to its roster, the success of its running game will be crucial for overall improvement. Coach Sanders has been proactive in recruiting new talent through the portal, but the team has also seen significant outgoing transfers. The upcoming season promises to be an intriguing one as the Buffaloes aim to find stability and success amidst these changes.
