Colorado Buffs players better settle for a rollercoaster training season with Deion Sanders. Every day is a new day under Coach Prime who usually lays down the law with a winning attitude and motivational speeches. He’s never short of creativity to stir up excitement in what might otherwise be a facility filled with a rather mundane routine practice.

Deion Sanders delivers an inspiring speech on teamwork followed by a competition

Another CU Buffs training day is captured on YouTube by Well Off Media and this episode includes an exciting relay race. Before announcing the competition, Deion Sanders huddled all his players and coaches together and delivered a speech that went like this — “I love that we’re accountable. I love that we’re depending on one another. I love that we’re pushing one another. I love that we’re supporting one another. I love that we’re challenging one another. I love that we’re becoming brothers regardless of your background and social status.” Now comes the competition.

After the inspirational message, Coach Prime commanded the Buffs to get into their respective positions where coaches would have to choose their fastest and slowest players. The fastest and slowest players are then grouped into two to have a relay race competition. The result was that both sides finished pretty close. The moral of this relay race? No matter whether you’re fast or slow, teammates are there to balance it off. Ultimately, it’s always about teamwork when it comes to competitive sports or anything involving a team.

Teamwork is the main focus for the CU Buffs in 2024

Expectations are running high as Deion Sanders keeps fueling the hype of the Buffs’ new 2024 team despite ending 4-8 in 2023. But this year has a different set of players and a different focus than last season with Coach Prime putting teamwork above everything else. In his recent IG post, he said, “Hold each other accountable. We want to work like a playoff team and that’s what we have. That’s what we’re at and that’s what we got. Ain’t no ifs and buts about it.”

Putting the relay race aside, it’s not just for extra attention that the Buffs HC brought in the Mariners to train the Buffs to work collectively as a unit. Carrying your teammates? It is no secret that on the football field, it’s all about teamwork. With much emphasis placed on working together as a team, the Buffs are already catching up on the hint. As Director of Player Personnel Corey Phillips previously said, the players care about each other. That’s the first sign of winning.” It’s still early to say if the Buffs can meet the expectations of fans, but there is a good chance that this season could be an upgrade on the last.
