Malik Nabers is one of the top wide receivers for the upcoming draft, listed as #1 by NFL analysts. Although he faces stiff competition from Marvin Harrison Jr., he is confident about his chances at the draft. He doesn’t shy away from calling himself the #1 pick among all WRs, a fact substantiated by the NFL combine ratings, probably because of the absence of Marvin Harrison Jr.

Based on his performance, Nabers received positive responses from multiple franchises including a dinner meeting with the NY Giants. However, when it looked all set that he would get drafted to the Giants, he gave a hint at taking a U-turn on them, while setting his expectations straight.

uSTADIUM took to X on April 7th to post a snippet of an interview from CBS Sports with LSU Tigers wide receiver Malik Nabers. In the short clip, Malik Nabers discussed his chances with the New York Giants and the issue with Daniel Jones. Responding to the question, he said, “That’s a decision that is gonna have to be placed, you know, when I hear my name call, especially since I don’t know where I’m going. Going to NY wouldn’t be a bad idea but, you know… the QB situation, I know, is they are gonna figure out especially if the guy like caliber receiver like me, you know they’d wanna give me the ball. So, I’m sure they are gonna have a QB that can do that.

Responding to the question, Nabers clarified that he had decided to make a call after the draft. He further added that the Giants need a QB who can pass the ball to him and create more opportunity if they plan to draft a wide receiver like him for the team. Nabers’ reply may be shocking considering he had dinner with the Giants (#6 pick) last month, but he also talked to other teams about his prospects.

While responding to the question about being the top wide receiver in the draft, he said, “I believe I am WR #1. You know, I play outside, I play the slot, you know, I’m able to go against 6 DBs in the game, still win against a lot of those DBs. Still, you know, get 100 yards a game, you know. Catch about two touchdowns a game… in the highest level [SEC] to play the football in college.” Although Harrison Jr. is a stiff competition, Nabers still has a strong chance of being the next best pick. It probably explains why he is confidently making demands of the NY Giants.
