During a recent training session at the Colorado Buffaloes’ gym, Shilo Sanders found himself at the center of attention, not for his athletic abilities, but for his lackluster approach to workouts. He was caught on camera by Well Off Media, holding a Coke Zero in his hand during a post-workout moment, raising eyebrows among the coaching staff, including Maurice Sims and the Director of Football Sports Performance.

Initially addressing Sanders, Sims expressed pride in the young athlete’s efforts, stating, “We have a news alert, I am actually proud of this guy.” However, Sims quickly shifted his tone, highlighting Sanders’ inconsistency, stating, “But I didn’t have any complaints, okay, and on his work ethic today, that’s a wreck.” Despite receiving what seemed like praise, Sanders’ reaction was telling. When he attempted to hug Coach Sims, he was met with resistance and a sobering reminder from Sims: “Get off of me,  you know when you give compliments, that’s when people fall off.”

Sanders, in turn, attempted to justify his efforts, outlining his workout plan for the day, but Sims emphasized the importance of dedication, cautioning, “Don’t come here if you’re not trying to work out or eat… You gotta eat.” Sanders, seemingly undeterred, asserted his commitment to improving, stating, “You know what coach… I actually have to do my Vertimax today.” However, his actions speak louder than words, as his failure to prioritize workouts and proper nutrition raises concerns about his readiness for the NFL draft.
