It seems like Deion Sanders has been waiting for this chance to land a 4-star talent and get an opportunity to get back at the NCAA for their fiasco back on July 2. Like anyone else, Coach Prime momentarily forgot what a coach should and should not say about recruiting as he said: “Everybody we got at, we got. They haven’t announced it yet but…” That put him in the hot seat with the higher-ups.

The NCAA rule is that head coaches will not discuss recruitment until an official announcement. Here’s what the NCAA bylaw 13.10.2.1 states — “Before the signing of a prospective student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent or an institution’s written offer of admission and/or financial aid… a member institution may comment publicly only to the extent of confirming its recruitment of the prospective student-athlete.” But this time, Deion Sanders learned his lesson and his retaliation was wholesome!

The Colorado Buffs landed a highly touted WR prospect, Quanell X Farrakhan Jr., on July 14, being hyped as an X factor. But this time, Deion Sanders is creeping cautiously. Before the 4-star WR’s commitment, he wrote on X, “Okay they told me I can’t say the FAMILY name but that’s understandable…Can I say much love to whoever this was and I’m thankful & elated u chose us. @NCAA can I say that?

Competition was high for someone like Quanell Farrakhan, 247Sports’ No. 44 WR in the country. Yet, believing in Deion Sanders, he chose the Buffs over programs like Alabama, Texas A&M, Nebraska, and others who are shaking their heads in disbelief. Colorado’s roster for 2024 is looking pretty sharp, and with a new defensive guru coming in along with the new commits, they seem to be in good hands. As for the new DL coach, meet Damione Lewis, a 14-year NFL veteran.

Colorado adds NFL expertise to coaching staff

Serving primarily as the defensive coach for the Seattle Seahawks for four years, Damione Lewis stepped up to replace Coach Sal Sunseri as the Buffs’ new DL coach. This news gives Buffs newfound hope as 14 pro years of experience doesn’t hurt Coach Prime’s coaching roster of over 140 years of NFL experience. However, the real outcome will only be determined by the players.

Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter remain the main hype for the team, which revamped their roster this offseason. With new elite additions like Jordan Seaton, Justin Mayers, and Kahlil Benson, among others, all ready to give their all, there could be a chance for the Buffs to become a winning team this season. Who knows? They might transcend all doubts and failures and make it to the Big 12 championship game!
