Not many college football head coaches can surpass the greatness of Nick Saban. In his coaching career of nearly three decades, he posted an overall record of 291-71-1. He also has a bowl record of 19-12 and a CFP record of 9-5.

When Nick Saban, a legendary HC with seven National Championships, six of which were won with Alabama, announced his retirement in January this year, it sent shockwaves through the football world. His sudden departure was hard to digest, but it seems that Saban has found his own version of paradise with Miss Terry.

Nick Saban reveals his daily household chores after retirement 

After stepping down from his 17-year tenure as HC at Alabama, Nick Saban opened up about his post-retirement life with his wife, Terry Saban. In a recent upload by Sidelines – Bama, the 72-year-old was asked if Miss Terry is tired of him in retirement. Saban’s response was casual, yet revealing of their dynamic, “You know, the day after I retired, I got the 12 commandments of retirement. So, I’ve tried to live by them, but I found out that if I do my chores, then I can go play golf. So I get up early and get my chores done.”

After being coaxed by the host to reveal his chores, Nick Saban began finger counting as he recalled his chores. He began, “I make my bed, I take the garbage out, I have to wait for her to eat together, and I have to leave a little food just because it’s polite to tell people that you really thought it was good.” What can we not like about this legend? After stealing headlines with his winning attitude and success with his program, he’s now living an enviable post-retirement life with his beloved wife as a wonderful husband who gets his chores done.

Nick Saban and Terry Saban are a couple everyone strives to be

Last December, Nick Saban and Miss Terry celebrated their 52nd anniversary, and the couple is still going strong and continues to influence younger couples. Saban’s love and appreciation for his wife are always clear, and he even says that she has given him “so much advice through the years.” In addition to sharing a mutual interest in football, Miss Terry had been by her husband’s side throughout his winning career. 

One of the best pieces of advice Nick Saban said Miss Terry gave him when starting as an HC was to cut off his “angry, nervous, and curt” demeanor while speaking with the media. Among many other things, this valuable piece of advice went a long way in establishing his dominance as the winningest HC as he said, “It helped in so many ways like recruiting, relationship with players… So that’s probably one of the most important lessons she ever gave me.” We hope to see the couple prosper in their relationship so they continue to serve as a beautiful example of how a relationship should support each other.
