After all the hard training during the off-season and spring transfer, Colorado University under head coach Deion Sanders was ready to showcase to the fans a glimpse of their skills. However, Coach Prime had more than just a game to display to the fans. There was a concert from Lil Wayne, a talent show, and a CU alumni reunion.

Despite all the preparations, the turnout was a disappointment as the attendance saw a downfall of nearly 50%. However, those who saw the game were excited by the development of the team. As the game ended 29-24 in favor of the offense side, fans were quick to keep note of all the important takeaways.

CU played their second spring game this weekend as the match, termed as their Black & Gold day. It was enough to give the fans a taste of their long off-season training. Fans were impressed by the development in the O-line as QB Shedeur Sanders arrived at the stadium in style and was releasing the ball a lot earlier compared to last year. However, CU doesn’t have a quality backup for Shedeur now.

Three-star Corbin Laisure was called in from Tennessee but didn’t impress much. WR LaJohntay Wester was also impressive with 66 yards in the game, including a 23-yard TD. In addition, the defense looked slightly better than last year, but has it improved enough?

CU’s defense was their nemesis last year and it hasn’t improved much this year too. A fan commented, “Nebraska’s gonna put up 70 on that defense” while another fan commented, “Weak as* defense again”, throwing sarcasm on the defense. However, Coach Prime is trying his best to take care of the situation.

Another area of concern for CU is the situation with their RB since Alton McCaskill, Sy’veon Washington, and Dylan Edwards left. The new replacements called in, Micah Welch and Charlie Offerdahl couldn’t play due to injuries. Hence, WR Isaiah Hardge was asked to start in the offensive backfield. So Colorado can hope to improve on their performance this time after they ended their previous season at 4-8.
