And with their recent Rose Bowl win, they are headed straight to the National Championship finals. In response to the win, Harbaugh put McCarthy on a pedestal and claimed he was a better quarterback than Brady at the college level.

During the post-match conference, Jim Harbaugh talked about the importance of J.J. McCarthy in the team. Alongside this conversation, he compared him to the 7-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady. He further went on to say that he’s the best QB in college football history and has an amazing career ahead of him.

Harbaugh said, “I think the last quarterback to win an overtime against Alabama was none other than Tom Brady. I’ve said it before, but this, right here, is the greatest quarterback in University of Michigan football and college football history.”

Further praising the young athlete, the coach added, “He’s got a long way to go to get to where Tom Brady eventually got to, which is the goat. In my college career, there’s been nobody better in Michigan than JJ, and I know we talk about it in an amalgamation of quarterbacks, but he is that guy.”

McCarthy said, “Credit to a great defense. [Alabama] played tremendously. They had a great game plan for us,” McCarthy said. “We weren’t really getting things going, but that never bothered us because it was all in the past and we were focusing on staying in the present and controlling the future.”
