It is not every day that a Division II football player ends up playing the SEC’s leading rusher and breaks records atop that. In a remarkable showdown against Tennessee, Cody Schrader achieved an unprecedented feat. He rushed for 205 yards and added 116 receiving yards. The feat him the first player in SEC history to achieve 200+ rushing yards and 100+ receiving yards in a single game. He was only 20 yards short of breaking the school record but decided to choose his team over personal records, saying, We didn’t build this team off of chasing records.”

In the post-match locker room celebrations, Coach Drink acknowledged the young athlete’s selfless act and handed him the game ball, stating that he represents exactly what the team stands for. His teammates quickly surrounded him and lifted above their shoulders in full cheer. It was his moment. Defensive end Darius Robinson affirmed, “He deserves that…he needs to enjoy that moment.”
