Deion Sanders, the coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, is under fire for his choices regarding the transfer portal. The 56-year-old Super Bowl winner has been in the news ever since he arrived in Colorado in February on a 5-year contract. But despite him signing a lot of new players at the time of his joining, the team failed to perform well this season.

The Colorado Buffaloes ended their season badly when they stood at the bottom of the league table with a record of 4-8. Even though it has been a notable improvement over their 2022 record of 1-11, the fans expected a lot better from Coach Prime. But as the transfer window has opened up yet again, Deion’s choices are being questioned by the critics of the sport.

On the latest episode of ‘The Coach JB Show with Big Smitty’, Matt McChesney joined as a guest to talk about the recent transfer window and had a few words to say about Coach Prime and the decisions he’s made in the past.

McChesney said, “I’m blown away by what has been done in the transfer portal over the last three years. At the same time, I’m a little skeptical because he’s a freshman. So I love it; it’s a great job. I’m not criticizing anything; I’m not hating on Coach Prime.” While McChesney has said harsh words about Coach Prime in the past, it looks like he is supporting him in full as the transfer window continues to create speculation in college football. With all said and done, here’s a look at how Deion drastically brought in new players to the roster.

Deion Sanders and how he completely changed the trajectory of the team with a lot of signings

Before joining Colorado, Deion was an HC at Jackson State. After he left the team to come to Colorado, nine players joined him on his newest venture as they tried to make a name for themselves with the Buffaloes. Moreover, his absence left a void in the team, which led to a total of 24 players leaving through the transfer portal.

Some of the nine players included names like Shedeur Sanders, Shilo Sanders, Tyler Brown, Jeremiah Brown, etc. But what was extremely shocking was when 86 new players joined Deion on his shift to Colorado. When asked about his decision, Deion said, “We’re going to continuously be questioned because we do things that have never been done, we do things that have never been done, and that makes people uncomfortable.” Thus, though he had a lot of trust in the squad, it didn’t work out in the best way for the two-time Super Bowl winner. Deion will be looking to redeem himself in the upcoming season as the fans continue to keep him on the pedestal.
