Jonathon James McCarthy’s recent Instagram post captioned with a symbolic tribute to rock climber Alex Honnold has fired up a conversation between fans of both athletes. Honnold has covered several unbelievable trails like the El Sendero Luminoso and The Phoenix. His videos have over 10 million views on YouTube. He is a legend in ways that surpass the limits of human potential. McCarthy’s post showcases how challenging the entire combine was, testing McCarthy to his limits, something as brutal and deadly as climbing a mountain with the possibility of death in Honnold’s case.

His pass also drew parallel to the arm strength both Honnold and McCarthy possess, hinting fans that he can pass even longer distances with more accuracy. McCarthy also posted a picture with Jerry Rice, possibly indicating potential affection toward the San Francisco 49ers. Nonetheless, it has yet to be reported that Honnold and McCarthy have ever officially met. Honnold often goes without any safety on his life-threatening adventures, much like the violent and physically deadly world of pro Football.

JJ McCarthy’s Combine Performance

Much like Tom Brady, who also represented the Wolverines proudly, his draft position would not necessarily be definitive of his high ceiling. McCarthy has possessed moments of magic in games against East Carolina, Nebraska, and Ohio State. During the combine, he impressed the scouts with his pinpoint pass around 50 yards to Troy Franklin of the Oregon Ducks. His overall performance was dominant, confirming why he was considered the “best quarterback in college football history” by Jim Harbaugh.
