All outstanding athletes have a vision and goal to achieve impressive feats. Based on what Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe said during his media appearance at a coveted show in New York, he might just be the definition of a true athlete. After all, he quotes his new head coach, Kalen DeBoer, saying the “relentless pursuit to continuous improvement” is key to winning.

This will be Milroe’s first year in college football without the legendary Nick Saban, who recruited him in 2021. It would also be his last before turning to the pro league. He’s one player who decided to remain in Alabama after Saban’s sudden retirement in January this year. But he remains hopeful under DeBoer that this season will be fruitful for the Crimson Tide, and his HC beams with pride at his talented player.

On July 26, Jalen Milroe found himself in the nation’s coveted show on CBS Mornings with Nate Burleson for a brief interview. When asked about his thoughts on Alabama under new HC Kalen DeBoer, he said, “The biggest thing we have to do initially is flip the page from 2023 and now the 2024 season, set short term goals and long term goals. Once you have goals, that’s how you can really push towards something in a direction.” Following this speech, DeBoer reposted his interview on X on July 26 with the caption, “Great job Jalen! Roll Tide!

Last season, Milroe helped the Crimson Tide secure the SEC title with 192 yards and two TDs before they fell to the eventual national champion, Michigan. His overall record in 2023 is 2,834 yards and 23 TDs, showcasing his talent at the position. For him, with or without Nick Saban, the mentality usually affects a player’s performance. But as far as his appearance on the show went, many people are surprised that a college football player made it to national television, which usually hosts big names.

Jalen Milroe’s CBS appearance is a shocker

Jalen Milroe’s reps must have outdone themselves by landing this lucrative venture for the face of Alabama. Along with ABC, NBC, and FOX, CBS is one of the nation’s four major TV networks, a platform where prominent figures usually make appearances. While Jalen Milroe is a popular face in college football, he isn’t a household name yet, as Mike Rodak stated on Bama247 on 247Sports on YouTube.

The Alabama staff writer concluded that Milroe’s appearance is “a bit surprising” as he said, “To me it’s just a question of is he there yet? I still think Jalen Milroe has a decent amount to prove this year.” After all, college football players still have yet to get recognized by the bulk of the people, and there are still “not too many players that really have that brand power.” But his appearance, despite these challenges, only gives hope to fans that this is just the beginning of something big for Milroe.
