Hold on to your hats, Buffs fans, because Deion Sanders might be sticking around for the long haul!

On Tuesday, CFB analyst Paul Finebaum threw some “dual” shades at both Coach Prime and USC head coach Lincoln Riley. Finebaum believes Riley is a “terrible” coach, and it’s a swap time for him with Prime Time. “I believe the answer after this season is Deion Sanders. He’s going to be tired of Colorado because quite frankly it’s not prime time,” he noted.

Now, before you pack Deion’s bags for California, a bright light keeps him in Boulder. Former CU Buffs player Matt McChesney believes Deion will stay put because of a potential commitment from top quarterback recruit Julian Lewis. On the July 23 Zero 2 Sixty podcast, he said, “I think Deion is going to stay in Boulder. I think JuJu Lewis the outstanding f***ing quarterback is going to commit to CU and walk in.”

McChesney firmly believes that JuJu would be a game changer for the Buffs, keeping the team’s energy high and attracting more top talent. Thus, he adds, “I do think that JuJu will commit to CU that will keep seating around, that will keep the offensive lineman around, that’ll keep the other receivers around.” Now, that’s the power of a 5-star QB.

Even Buffs fans are buzzing with the possibility, especially after they rolled out the red carpet for Lewis last month – complete with a community rally and a special JuJu Precision Pass Burger in his honor! While Lewis is still technically committed to USC, it seems more likely by the day that he will switch to Colorado.

And even if JuJu stays with the Trojans (which seems less likely), Deion might not go there. Repeatedly, he has shown his commitment to the Buffs.

Deion Sanders locks in the future with the Buffs

Even though Deion’s sons Shilo and Shedeur might head to the NFL, and even with his star player Travis Hunter following suit, he seems happy in Boulder. Early this month, the Buffs HC posted a beautiful picture of Folsom Field, adding, “There’s no place like home.” His close friend, Uncle Neely, even confirmed Deion is “happy” in Colorado and “wants to bring a national championship back to that community.” Coach Prime is backing up his words with actions.

Deion Sander is building a powerhouse roster for the future.  His sights are set on 2025, and he’s already snagging top talent. He’s got a 5-star quarterback, JuJu Lewis, in his sights, plus a bunch of commitment from 4-star players on offense and defense, like cornerback Alex Graham, wide receiver Quanell X Farrakhan Jr., and lineman Chauncey Gooden.

Deion isn’t stopping there — he’s planning for 2026 too! He recently hosted top recruit quarterback Jaden O’Neal for a visit, and there are reports they offered a scholarship to 4-star wide receiver Malachi Toney. With all this recruiting action, Deion shuts down any whispers of him leaving. Looks like Coach Prime is a Buff for the long haul!
