Drake Maye is already showing his confidence at his new home in New England Patriots. After being drafted as the third overall pick on the first day of the NFL draft, Maye is ready to serve the Patriots as a quarterback in the 2024 NFL season. While many want him to emulate the Patriots’ legendary QB Tom Brady, the aspiring Maye just wants a few tips from the GOAT, but ultimately be himself. 

After serving the North Carolina Tar Heels, Maye began his NFL journey with a bang. However, his record in a collegiate football landscape gives the Patriots franchise new hope, and above that a reason to back himself in the NFL fraternity.

After being drafted by the Patriots, Maye showed his enthusiasm accompanied by his youthful energy. NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe shared a video on his Twitter account highlighting Maye’s happiness after his draft. Sharing the video Wolfe wrote, “Drake Maye exuded a youthful energy of hope arriving as Patriots QB today, and he can’t wait to compete with fellow ACC guy Jacoby Brissett for starting job. And as for Tom Brady, Maye hopes to eventually get tips from him. But he just wants to be Drake Maye.

Wolfe also addressed Maye’s willingness to compete with his fellow Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett for the starting position. Maye may be playing his rookie season, whereas Brissett signed with the Patriots in March after leaving Washington. So, only time reveals who will get a place as a team’s QB on the gridiron.

Drake Maye’s collegiate football journey was convincing. Maye became 2022 ACC Player of the Year where he lodged 4321 yards and 38 touchdowns. In the 2023 season, the 21-year-old quarterback scored 3608 yards and 24 touchdowns. After having these records to his name, Maye reignited the Patriot’s hope for a revival after a disappointing 2023 NFL season.

The Patriots completed the previous season with just four victories and 13 defeats, placing them at the bottom of the AFC East division.
