The Alabama Crimson Tide is seeing better days with more and more additions to the roster. After Nick Saban’s retirement, the fans have held a lot of expectations from Kalen DeBoer, the newest HC for Alabama. Now that the team is preparing for next season, DeBoer is doing his best to redefine the squad and so far, he hasn’t disappointed.
Nick Saban announced his retirement from the sport after 28 years of coaching. Undoubtedly, he stands tall as one of the best coaches that the footballing world has ever seen. So when DeBoer was asked to take his place, he would instantly have to try and match up to the legacy that Saban left behind. As such, he is using his methods to try and better Alabama and make them a stronger team. DeBoer made a wise decision when he decided to sign Keon Sabb, the former Michigan safety, to improve the team’s last line of defense. And now, DeBoer has made a great choice by signing on Josh Cuevas, who will be following in his former coach’s footsteps to ensure their partnership at Alabama as well.

Kalen DeBoer will be bringing Josh Cuevas to Alabama to improve the team’s offense
In recent reports, it has been revealed that Josh Cuevas, the former tight end for the Washington Huskies, will be joining DeBoer’s team. The men in crimson will have a fast-footed player on the squad who will be joining the newest offensive line coach, Chris Kapilovic, who will also be a part of Alabama soon.

Cuevas entered the transfer portal two weeks ago and is seemingly certain about his future. He’s not the only Washington player to be lured away to Alabama as Cuevas will be joining former UW starting center Parker Brailsford. Now that DeBoer’s team seems to be changing a lot, the fans seem to doubt whether Saban would be supportive of his methods or not. But in fact, Saban is enthusiastic about DeBoer’s approach and is excited to see what comes out of his leadership.
Nick Saban speaks up on DeBoer’s handling of Alabama
After 16 years of being head coach for Alabama, it would’ve been difficult for Saban to hand over the baton to Kalen DeBoer. But it looks like Saban is ecstatic about the former Washington coach taking control of the reins. Even though Saban will be watching over his beloved team from afar, he will do so with patience and without interfering with DeBoer’s methods.

In a statement, Saban assured the fans that he was really happy with Saban’s way of coaching the team. He said, “I really haven’t been around. I really try to stay arm’s length. I don’t want anybody to think I’m looking over their shoulder. I think he’s hired a good staff. I think he’s a good man, I think he’s a good coach and I think he’ll do a really good job.” Thus, the 72-year-old veteran coach will enjoy his retirement in peace as he sits back and watches DeBoer lead his team to glory in the upcoming season.
