The world of college football has apparently lost its charm ever since most of the greats went to the NFL. Now that the next generation of college athletes is ready to take over, it is going to be interesting to see who ends up at the number 1 spot in the 2025 Draft, as Caleb Williams did this year.

Caleb Williams was crowned as the Heisman trophy winner in 2022 and was a good contender for the title in 2023 until he lost out to LSU’s Jayden Daniels. Now that he will embark on a professional career with the Chicago Bears, the class of 2024 will need to step up their game in order to achieve the same status as Williams did in his career.

On the May 7th episode of the Unnecessary Roughness YouTube show, the four hosts dove deep into the biggest names in 2024 and caught up on everything related to college football. In one segment, they incurred Caleb Williams’ name and pointed out how his being the number 1 pick had been known ever since 2022. Yet, that’s more that can be said about the current class of the NCAA since it’s difficult to predict who will be the top pick in next year’s draft.

One of the hosts said, “Is there a lack of star power? We knew going into last year, Caleb Williams was a defending Heisman winner and he was going to be the number one pick of the draft. We knew that number one pick of the draft probably got closer than we would have thought but he ended up being that this year. We don’t know who’s going to be the number one pick of the draft. We don’t know who the star quarterbacks are going to be.”

The show implied that there are a few QBs who are in talks to be at the top of the Draft next year, it just hasn’t been the same as it was back in last season. Moreover, while there’s no defined direction in which the 2025 Draft could go, the name of Shedeur Sanders has largely been predicted to be the top QB next year, even by Deion Sanders himself.

The 2024 class is filled to the brim with its share of talented quarterbacks. With names like Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe, and Shedeur Sanders ready to prove their best versions this season, it is going to be an exciting year for college football fans. Yet, Shedeur has been touted to be the leading QB this year, as per several NFL analysts.

One of the NFL evaluators commented on Shedeur’s talent and also pointed out how Deion plays a huge role in his career. He said, “He was [the top QB] for me if he came out this year. You have to manage him a little differently, and Deion is going to be heavily involved. So, you have to be prepared to deal with that bulls***. But I love watching that kid play. He’s a born winner.

As such, all eyes might just be on Shedeur and Colorado as they are set to make this season all about their redemption and proving that they’re the best in the NCAA.
