We don’t know what’s going on inside the Colorado college football scene but another star RB has left. Dylan Edwards joins Colorado’s star transfers including Cormani McClain in announcing his decision to join the transfer portal on Tuesday morning. And now that the elite RB is in the portal, several teams in need of running talents are vying for his attention including the Ole Miss Rebels.

Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss aren’t done with their hunt for talented running backs to fuel their CFP hopes. They’ve recently landed former Miami star Henry Parrish Jr. and another tailback they’ve signed is former New Mexico star Jacory Croskey-Merritt. But with Edwards entering the portal as a highly-touted RB, the Rebels may be having their eyes on him.

Ole Miss joins Miami and Kansas State to win Dylan Edwards’ commitment

In a recent IG upload by 247sports, Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins and recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna discuss their opinions on which team could be a potential landing place for Colorado’s transfer RB Dylan Edwards. As Petagna said, “(Miami is) going all in right now. I feel that way with Ole Miss. I feel like it’s gonna be one of those teams for Dylan Edwards if not Kansas State.”

Ole Miss just lost Quinshon Judkins to the transfer portal and Lane Kiffin might want to entice Dylan Edwards into his program to boost the Rebel’s scoring offense given his agility and versatility in the return game. But he also faces competition with other programs including Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Nebraska who are also interested in the 5’9 and 170-pounder.

Edwards rushed for 321 yards and scored 36 ball catches for 299 yards in 2023. He also secured 105 kick return yards while finding the end zone five times. In the game against TCU, he scored 159 yards in total offense which showed his importance in the Buffs’ program as the first player in their history to score four TDs in a debut. But whether or not he’ll choose another program over Kansas State after what happened during the 2023 recruiting class isn’t clear because Kansas State could be his priority after his unsatisfactory season under Coach Prime in Colorado.

Dylan Edwards’ narrative with Kansas State

Before flipping to Deion Sanders and Colorado, Dylan Edwards was originally committed to Kansas State. This initial interest could serve as a sign that he might want to take a U-turn and play for his native state. But that’s not the only reason he showed interest in the Wildcats’ program.

According to a recent X report by sports editor Sam McKewon on April 24, “I would assume Dylan Edwards is headed from Colorado to Kansas State, but he’s one heck of talent.” In addition to his prior interest in joining the Wildcats, another interesting point for him is that his father Leon Edwards also played RB for Kansas State.

Kansas State QB Avery Johnson had even reposted Edwards’ transfer news on his X account and added a simple home emoji, which could be him calling Edwards to come home to the Wildcats. So, what do you think Edwards is going to ultimately choose?
