Are Travis Hunter & Co. looking for revenge? Mark your calendars, Buffs fans! October 19 is circled red hot for a revenge matchup against the Arizona Wildcats. Last year’s game was a nail-biter, with the Wildcats edging out the Buffaloes 34-31. For many Buffs players, the sting of that loss hasn’t faded.

But it’s the same for the Wildcats, too. Here’s why: Remember that clutch interception Travis Hunter made in the end zone against Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita? The Wildcats haven’t forgotten that.

“You have to be careful of him,” Noah Fifita admitted to The Coloradoan on July 12. “He [Hunter] does a really good job of recognizing routes and falling off of routes. He got me one time in the end zone,” the Arizona quarterback noted. Hunter finished the year with three interceptions and 30 tackles, earning him Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. So, who can disagree?

However, his star wide receiver, Tetairoa McMillan, isn’t fazed. “We’re not afraid of anybody,” he declared. He acknowledges Hunter’s talent but embraces the challenge. “Although (Hunter) is one of the top players in the country, we embrace moments like those. Even though he is who he is, we try to attack him, make him feel like people aren’t scared of his abilities and what he can do,” he said.

Now, there’s some history between these two players. Last year, with the score tied 24-24, Fifita found McMillan one-on-one with Hunter for a clutch one-handed grab that sealed the win for Arizona. The Wildcats duo sounds confident they can repeat that feat and put a damper on Shedeur Sanders’ “Super Bowl” dreams for this matchup.

Can Travis Hunter support Shedeur’s claims about winning the “Super Bowl”?

Shedeur Sanders has just made some bold claims! During the Big 12 media day, the Buffs’ quarterback boasted about being undefeated in the SWAC and declared, “I already know what the expectations come with. I know we are everyone’s Super Bowl.” Now, this rubbed some people the wrong way. Coming off a 4-8 season, the Buffs are hardly considered everyone’s championship contender.  Even Coach JB chimed in with a reality check, saying, “You’re not everybody’s Super Bowl bro. You’re not.”

Meanwhile, Arizona’s quarterback and wide receiver duo have their priorities straight. They’re confident and ready for the challenge, which makes Shedeur’s “Super Bowl” claims sound even more outlandish. Will the Buffs’ quarterback-receiver duo of Shedeur and Travis Hunter be able to back up these bold words? We will get the answers in three months. But one thing’s certain — these lofty predictions aren’t doing the Buffs any favors. As Andy Staples from On3 pointed out, “Everyone who plays Colorado wants to kick the crap out of Colorado.” It’s all on the shoulders of this young QB-WR duo and maybe another dose of “end zone magic” from Travis Hunter.
