Saints Star Alvin Kamara Has an Odd Take On Drew Brees’ Return to Football

Drew Brees had a legendary career with the New Orleans Saints. Now he will be wearing a headset for the Purdue Boilermakers to kick-start his coaching career. And fans have a lot of expectations from someone who they want to see calling plays in the NFL. Amid all the reactions to Brees’ appointment, Saints star Alvin Kamara has the oddest takes of all.

Brees joined the Purdue football program as an interim assistant coach. His appointment came after the departure of the Boilermakers’ head coach Jeff Brohm.

Alvin Kamara shared the Saints locker room with Drew Brees while the quarterback was still lighting up the NFL. Kamara’s connection with Brees is still second to none. And his take on the legendary QB taking up the job at Purdue shows that. He said the veteran QB is taking the job as he is bored and the running back also gave his verdict on Brees’ coaching abilities.

“I think Drew’s bored. Drew, you’re bored. But I don’t know. I think he’ll do good. With the helmet on I think he’s a great coach. I don’t know how he’s gonna do with a headset on. We’ll see,” Kamara said with a big smile on his face.

Hurricane Brees spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons with the Saints and established himself as a legend of the franchise. He and Kamara played together for four seasons together at New Orleans after the running back joined the franchise as a third-round draft pick in 2017.

Here comes coach Brees

Alvin Kamara and millions of NFL fans will see coach Drew Brees live in action when the Purdue Boilermakers take on the Louisiana State Tigers in the 2023 Citrus Bowl. This is the first coaching opportunity for the legendary Saints QB. Many fans have expressed their desire to see the legend call plays in the NFL. And the Purdue job can be a trailer for the bigger picture.

Although Brees downplayed his future as an NFL coach recently. He called his coaching gig with the Boilermakers just a short-term thing where he is just trying to fill a gap.

“This is just a short-term thing, and like I said, this came about just with Coach Brohm leaving and us being in a position where we were trying to fill the gap,” the Saints’ legend said.

Whether Breesus will ever coach in the NFL or not is a thing for the future. But it will definitely be nice to see him back on the football field, although in a different capacity, again.
