Skip Bayless landed himself in hot water with a single Twitter post. LSU star QB Jayden Daniels has just been declared the winner of the 2023 Heisman Trophy. Bayless’ first choice for the Heisman was Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. whom he thought had the edge of winning the title. But now that results have come out differently, he hasn’t held his opinions back.

Skip Bayless’ unconventional judgment over the Heisman contenders

Skip Bayless held no secret when it came to backing Michael Penix Jr. before the declaration of the Heisman Trophy winner. He posted on Twitter, “Congrats to Jayden Daniels for winning the Heisman,” continuing with, “Michael Penix Jr. has won his last 20 games and led UW to the playoffs. I thought that gave him a slight edge. But Jayden definitely will be the better NFL QB.”

The post is very contradictory in itself. In the past, Skip Bayless has supported Michael Penix Jr. because he won all the last 20 games leading the Huskies to the playoffs. And now, his statement isn’t an ‘ouch’ for just Penix who is unceremoniously ditched over Daniels. What exactly does Bayless mean by Jayden being the better NFL QB? Well, he hasn’t offered up an explanation, but fans have united to call out his sneaky behavior.

Fans on Twitter slam Skip Bayless’ statement

Following Skip Bayless’ judgment, one fan threw their disgust on Twitter saying, “Shut up old man.” They also provided the stats of Jayden Daniels who completed the season ranking 1st in the FBS with a 67% completion rate, 22-0 touchdown-interception, and an average of 25.3 yards per game.

Another user called out his misleading support system saying, “It’s weird as hell when you randomly back a player and start throwing shade at another. The agenda has no reason behind it. Hopefully they can play better than Josh Freeman.”

One fan commented, “You give Penix the edge so what makes you think Jayden will be the better NFL QB? Bro makes no sense lmao.”

Still, some fans revel in Skip Bayless’ mistake saying, “Got to love it when you’re wrong. Daniels has the edge with the Heisman, with that said Penix was a good choice if he won. I like both for NFL potential.”

And some feel the whole thing is an overreaction, posting, “It’s not a lifetime achievement award.”
