On April 8, 2024, a rare solar eclipse graced parts of North America, South America, and Asia with its celestial spectacle. This captivating phenomenon also caught the attention of the International Space Station, which captured breathtaking views of the eclipse from space, showcasing the mesmerizing sight of the moon’s shadow gracefully traversing the Earth’s surface. 

Amidst the awe-inspiring display, many seized the opportunity to observe solar flares, aided by effective visionary protection. Since staring directly at the eclipses can damage the optical receptors in human beings. However, there have been instances in the past where popular NFL athletes have decided to take the bold step of glancing at the eclipse with their bare eyes, which resulted in surprising results. Deion Sanders Jr. seemed to follow suit and later commented on its aftermath on Platform X, which left the NFL world worried. 

Deion Sanders Jr. mirrors Odell Beckham Jr.’s dull-witted moment

Since entering the NFL as a first-round pick for the New York Giants in 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. has been a standout player, earning Pro Bowl recognition early in his career. Now, as a free agent drawing interest from multiple teams, including the Miami Dolphins, attention has turned to a moment from 2017 when Beckham’s excitement over a rare solar eclipse resurfaced. Among those eagerly awaiting this celestial event was Odell Beckham Jr. Taking to Instagram, Beckham shared his anticipation for the solar eclipse.

In a video posted on his social media, he marveled at the sight of the sun and moon aligning in the sky. However, his enthusiasm led him to directly gaze at the sun for an extended period, disregarding the potential risks associated with staring at the sun during an eclipse. Deion Sanders Jr. did something similar during the 8Th of April solar eclipse and took to platform X to share his experience, “watched the solar eclipse with the naked eye.” He added an update saying that his eyes were fine after the stunt, but quickly took the post down. Well, both players seem to have safeguarded their eyes, but in Beckham Jr.’s case, the aftermath affected something more serious. 

Beckham Jr.’s stats take a hit

A post doing its round on platform X shared a closer inspection of the athlete’s on-the-field performance before and after the eclipse sighting. It turns out that, since his eclipse-gazing moment in 2017, Odell Beckham Jr.’s performance has seemingly taken an intriguing turn. Post-eclipse, his stats reflect a notable decline, with a modest average of 635 yards per season, only 4 touchdowns, and no Pro Bowl appearances.
