Maybe birds of the same feather don’t flock together. All Dеion Sandеrs wanted was to have all his kids under one roof, but Shеlomi leaving CU has left him quite disheartened. As father and head coach, Sandеrs may project a strong image, but ultimately, shares the same parental aspirations as any other dad. His recent remarks about labeling Shеlomi’s decision to switch programs as “stupid” sparked controversy, contrasting sharply with his ex-wife Pilar‘s more open-minded approach.

“I am proud of you (Shеlomi), and I am happy for you, and I will always be there supporting you. Because I am a real mama who’s prеsеnt,” she affirms, contrasting with Dеion Sandеr’s strict parenting. While both parties’ perspectives are valid, their differing approaches have raised a heated debate about Shеlomi’s autonomy. During the family conflict, Sanders reluctantly posted a mysterious message on social media, sparking suspicions.

Taking to his Instagram story on April 30th, Sanders wrote, “Stop explaining yourself to people when God knows the truth. #CoachPrime.” While the context behind Sanders’ mysterious message remains unspecified, it is timing amid the ongoing family feud regarding Shelomi’s autonomy and career aspirations with ex-wife Pilar Sanders has sparked speculation.

However, Deion is not the only Sanders firing back on social media. Pilar posted a video on her YouTube channel on April 29th, making her feelings clear on the topic and sneak dissing Deion. She added, “Stop talking about a present parent. Don’t make me say more than I have to say stop talking about being a present parent.”

Pilar even sympathized with Shelomi’s struggles explaining how she wasn’t treated equally at CU because of the Sanders name, adding that she left the program “where she was never given a fair chance to really get recruited.”

In fact, Shelomi was given little to no playing time during her time with CU, making just 5 appearances and only appearing for the game for a total of 11 minutes. So, it only made sense for her to try her luck somewhere else.

On the flip side, Pilar highlighted that rather than acknowledging Shelomi, Deion Sanders is excessively critical of her decision and adopts an authoritarian stance. Describing his comments as “very disturbing.”

The ambiguous nature of Sanders’ message leaves room for interpretation and prompts questions about its intended recipient and underlying meaning. Meanwhile, putting aside the parental debate, Pilar Sanders has chosen to prioritize Shelomi’s career. She has been celebrating her daughter’s decision to join Alabama A&M through a series of Instagram posts.

Pilar champions Shеlomi’s dеcision

Shеlomi has left the Colorado Buffaloes’ women’s basketball team, and Pilar has actively shown her support for her daughter’s new journey. In a recent post, Pilar shared a glimpse of Shеlomi’s impressive practice session at her new school, accompanied by a caption that conveyed her daughter’s determination: “Meanwhile…we work…”

As per Pilar’s statement on YouTube, all she wants for her daughter is to experience her career growth without being overshadowed for being the kid of a famous athlete like Deion Sanders. According to Pilar, this was partially responsible for Shеlomi’s “unfair” recruitment last season.

Now, it will be intriguing to see if Shеlomi flourishes as a basketball player in the new environment without the active influence of Coach Prime.
