“We comin’” was (and remains) a rallying cry for the fans of Colorado Buffaloes. After a historic roster overhaul shortly after taking over, Deion Sanders built the expectations of a lifetime for the Buffs. Reality was always going to be different. You cannot overturn a 1-11 season in just one year. In the end, a 4-8 season is an improvement but only on paper.

With a promising 3-0 start and a dismal six-game losing streak, Deion Sanders and his first season will remain a key talking point in NCAA Football as they head into the offseason, but for Coach Prime himself, there’s an added talking point – Shedeur Sanders, his 52 sacks (read getting sacked) and the father-son relationship. In fact, when Shedeur didn’t dress up for the last game of the regular season at Utah, it was the first time that Shedeur was ever sidelined since high school. “That was my first time playing without him,” Deion Sanders said. “It wasn’t easy.”

Sanders, cognizant of the necessary adjustments for both Colorado and his son, sheds light on the top two priorities that demand attention and transformation. He elaborated, “We gonna protect Shedeur you do know that. I’m not only his coach but I’m his daddy, right? You do know it hurt my heart to see my son out there getting beat down every darn game. But that’s my son. So I gotta do what I gotta do to make sure he’s straight. So I made some moves to try to assure him a better protection.” 

Just as Deion Sanders said, Colorado needs to improve both offense and defense-wise. The team ranked last in the nation in rushing yards per game with 68.9 and didn’t fare much better in the defense allowing 176.4 yards per game. He expressed on Coach Reed Live the two priorities for the Buffs. He said, “We gotta run the football and we gotta stop the run,” highlighting their need to strengthen both the O-line and the D-line.

After taking a hard beating for the majority of the season, Coach Prime is ready to get cooking. Coach Prime is spearheading substantial transformations in the Colorado Buffaloes roster, particularly focusing on bolstering the offensive line. Notably, one of the standout additions to the team is Jordan Seaton, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 5-star 2024 recruiting class.

Coach Prime is preparing Shedeur Sanders’s backup in “plural”

In a recent update by Coach Prime, Shedeur Sanders is recovering from his fractured back injury and will return to the field for the 2024 season. But this time, Deion Sanders is making preparations to keep his son from going through the pain from his debut season in Boulder again. He said, “Portal QBs, plural.”

Coach Prime stated during an interview about Coach Prime Season 2, “Right now, we’re looking for older quarterbacks, because we plan on winning. So if something were to happen to Shedeur, they could step right in and make it happen.“

Now that Colorado has Jordan Seaton, they’re moving ahead toward a new season full of hope and confidence. Hopefully, Shedeur Sanders will benefit from the changes that Coach Prime has made for the Buffs. For now, we can only bet on the potential improvement that we might see when they hit the field again.
