A lot of opinions have surfaced on the internet after Deion Sanders’ recent disclosure of his confidence in his son and QB Shedeur Sanders. The 22-year-old Colorado Buffaloes QB still has another college football season ahead of him before he declares for the 2025 NFL Draft. But Coach Prime already seems to have etched his son’s future by projecting him as the potential No. 1 pick while Travis Hunter might seal the top 4 pick in their draft class.

In addition to casting Shedeur Sanders as the possible top 1 pick, Coach Prime has also raised his concerns about his son playing in cold cities. He has also hinted that if certain teams draft him, he would consider his son pulling an Eli Manning. Not surprisingly, his response was met with criticism from various people.

In a recent episode on The Colin Cowherd Podcast on YouTube, John Middlekauff joins Colin Cowherd to unleash his raw opinion on Shedeur Sanders in relation to Coach Prime’s claims. The ‘3 & Out’ host slams Deion Sanders’ confidence saying that while both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are undoubtedly going to be great NFL players, his over-confident approach leads to criticism and judgment from people. He said of Shedeur Sanders, “This guy is not Caleb Williams or Trevor Lawrence. Like not everyone’s universally agreeing that he’s some elite player.”

Following this, Colin Cowherd tipped in his opinion saying, “Trevor and Caleb going into the season were unanimous MVPs. Shedeur isn’t.” Caleb Williams, who is the projected No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner and unanimous All-American. Similarly, Trevor Lawrence who was the No. 1 pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, was also named the CFP National Championship Offensive MVP in 2018. Achievement-wise, Shedeur Sanders remains in the backseat but he still has one more season to prove himself.

Will Shedeur Sanders prove Coach Prime’s critics wrong in the upcoming season?

After a dismal first season in Colorado, Shedeur Sanders isn’t without criticism from naysayers. Recently during the spring football practice, he spoke out on the hate that he receives. He said, “I came from a private school, so at the end of the day, I’ve dealt with a lot of negativity, a lot of hate, a lot of everything I’ve dealt with already, year after year… I’ve always been against the odds in different ways.”

But the good news for Shedeur Sanders is that he still has a chance to live up to his father’s hype about him this season. Last season, he was still able to perform well by securing 3,230 yards and 27 TDs despite a poor offensive line that gave way to him getting sacked 52 times. Now that Coach Prime has fixed the problems that erupted in his first season as HC in Colorado and ensured better protection for him, Shedeur Sanders may just be able to prove his critics wrong and become the top pick in 2025 triumphant amidst all negativity.
