2024 NFL Combine: Caleb Williams Breaks Silence on His Allegiance With Bears Amid Trade Rumors

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 220 pounds, Caleb Williams is praised for his ability to improvise and his agility. ESPN has even ranked him as the 2nd best player available for the NFL draft. Additionally, many predict Williams could snag the number one pick. Yet, he hasn’t disclosed anything about the draft or his allegiance to any team.
Recently, Williams surprised everyone by speaking about his draft prospects in front of cameras for the first time since departing from the USC Trojans. In an interview with NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Williams discussed his Combine journey and aspirations for being the first overall pick. The conversation shifted to his meeting with the Bears leadership, who possess the coveted No.1 pick. That’s when Williams finally spoke up his thoughts and addressed the trade rumors.

The NFL Network recently shared a short video of Caleb on their X handle. In it, he talked about his mindset leading up to the NFL Draft with Tom Pelissero. The interviewer mentioned rumors about Caleb joining the Bears and even mentioned the edited photos of him in a Bears uniform. He asked Caleb about his first meeting with them. Caleb smiled and said, “It was good. Everybody was cool… and I guess that’s a Gen-Z kinda word. But it was really nice.” He also mentioned how they tested his mental ability and his capability to handle different things.

When the interviewer brought up that 31 other teams are also interested in trading up for Caleb and asked him where he wanted to go. “Whoever picks first. It’s been a dream of mine to go first, so whoever picks first. I can’t wait… I’m having fun”, Williams said. It seems like whoever selects this top QB first will gain his allegiance.

Could Caleb be the Bears’ potential game-changer?
Chicago Bears fans are eagerly anticipating whether Caleb Williams will bring his USC football success to their team. In his last two seasons, he showed incredible skill. With impressive stats like 333 completions out of 500 attempts, 42 touchdowns, 4,547 yards, and only 5 interceptions, he had an amazing Heisman-worthy season at USC. Even though his final season wasn’t as remarkable, he still did well. He completed 266 passes out of 338 attempts for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions.

The recent interview has fans feeling hopeful. Although Williams didn’t say how he did on the quiz, his positive comments about the meeting are encouraging.
