Shilo Sanders has some legal tackles slated before the Big 12. On July 10, the Colorado safety had a rough day at the Buffs’ Big media day. While the rest of Sanders talked about game plans, Shilo faced questions about a years-long lawsuit against him.

Back in high school, Shilo got into trouble over a scuffle with security guard John Darjean, who claimed life-threatening injuries while trying to take Shilo’s phone. Soon, Darjean sued Shilo for a whopping $11.9 million in 2016, and the Buffaloes safety filed for bankruptcy. Will this legal mess tackle Shilo before the season starts? But for now, Buffs fans have less to worry about since the case seems to be going in Shilo’s favor. Let’s check out the details.

Coach Prime & Co. gets a breakthrough in the legal battle

Shilo Sanders is facing a legal battle that just won’t seem to go away. Things got more complicated when Shilo filed for bankruptcy, hoping to discharge his debts, including this lawsuit. But Darjean isn’t giving up ― he wants his due compensation. In June, a Colorado judge even gave him some breathing room by allowing him time to prove Shilo might be hiding assets through companies (LLCs) after his concerning appeal.

Now, there’s a new twist coming this Thursday. A Dallas judge has ordered sealing the documents related to the bankruptcy case. This means the details about the assault case are hidden from public view. Shilo’s lawyers argued that he deserved such privacy since he was a minor at the time of the incident. This move might be a major blow to Darjean, making it harder for him to prove Shilo is hiding assets to avoid paying the lawsuit.

With sealed records hindering Darjean’s case, Coach Prime’s son might catch a break. But will this reprieve last?

Shilo Sanders opens up about his bankruptcy allegations

The Colorado Buffaloes safety is finally opening up on the lawsuit against him! The Sanders crew has always denied Darjean’s story. Shilo is speaking out, saying, “Honestly, that kind of stuff, you’re not gonna win a court case on social media. And at the end of the day, everybody is gonna know the truth about everything. So, there’s no point just going out of my way to just do that. So, everything’s good.” Thus, the man himself broke his silence during the Buffs media day.

Shilo’s lawyers are also fighting back, questioning Darjean’s injuries and whether they even happened during the fight. Social media might be on Darjean’s side, but Shilo has a strong legal team behind him. His lawyers, including Victor Vital, are ready to battle it out in court to prove his innocence.

Till then, the Sanders family is staying focused on football. They’ve been deflecting questions about the lawsuit and keeping their eyes on the prize: the Big 12 season. Their home opener against North Dakota is coming up on August 29. Maybe a few game-winning plays by Shilo will shift the spotlight to something more positive!
