It looks like tensions are brewing! Deion Sanders was not happy with Shelomi hitting the transfer portal and taking her talents elsewhere. In fact, he called it “stupid“. His daughter played basketball in Colorado for just one season before making the decision to switch it up. Now, she secured a big NIL deal with Marriott Bonvoy and Deion Sanders hasn’t said a word about it.

However, Shelomi, now committed to Alabama, has found comfort in the support of her mother, Pilar Sanders, who has stepped in to provide a nurturing environment for her daughter. Shelomi Sanders took to Instagram to announce her NIL partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, a travel program with luxurious hotel brands. The video revealed that she partnered with the $66.03B-worth company to share her game day rituals at Marriott Bonvoy.

Good food, a relaxing place to meditate, and a bed that feels like my own are the only things I need.” She shared some behind-the-scenes clips: “Marriott got me feeling good and you know what they say, when you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, baby you play good. Trust the process.”

Pilar Sanders didn’t take long to find her daughter’s post on IG. She commented, “Love this baby!!!! Perfect Match!” In another comment, she added with an afterthought, “Great voice by the way,” followed by several clapping emojis. While Shelomi’s NIL valuation isn’t known, she ranks at number 12 in On3 Women’s NIL 100. Meanwhile, Deion Sanders has remained silent through it all.

Surely, Pilar’s public support for Shelomi isn’t new. The mother supported Shelomi’s decision to hit the transfer portal in April. However, what has pushed Deion Sanders to stay mum? Yes, it is their disagreement. But there’s something more than just that.

It needs to be done the Deion Sanders way!

Even family members sometimes have conflicting opinions and decisions, and Shelomi Sanders chose to stick with her opinion despite Deion Sanders’ disapproval. When the former Buffs women’s basketball player announced her decision to hit the transfer portal, Coach Prime was not happy. Let’s not forget that she also played at Jackson State- the same place where Prime Time was an HC before moving to Colorado.

While his sons moved with him, so did Shelomi. However, what pushed the daughter to hit the transfer portal is not known. What we do know is that Coach Prime wasn’t happy. Deion Sanders said, “I’m a father, I’m a real father… Where I come from, historically, children follow their parents… When do parents start following children? This doesn’t work in my book. I am the head of the family and I dictate where the children go, not them dictating where I go.”

Both Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders followed him from JSU to Colorado. There is also a high chance that Deion Sanders will dictate his sons’ future landing spots in the NFL. But we also need to take into consideration that many from the HC’s immediate circle will leave soon. Shedeur and Shilo are targeting the 2025 NFL draft. So Shelomi leaving CU and exploring might not be that bad.

However, Deion Sanders’s contract with Colorado runs through Dec. 31, 2027. It will be interesting to see how he further shapes his children’s athletic careers. What do you think?
