Joe was born in Northern Oaks, Minnesota, on February 28th, 2003, to Carolyn Alt. While many details about his mother’s personal and professional life are unknown, she has been a muscular force in Joe’s life. His parents have also instilled solid academic value in their son by pursuing a Mechanical Engineering major from the University of Notre Dame, so he has a strong background outside of his football life.

He studied at the University of Iowa and developed as a player before being the 21st overall pick by the Chiefs in 1984. Now, nearly 40 years after his NFL debut, it’s his son’s time to rise and carry forward his legacy, as teams like the Titans and Chiefs are already said to be interested in securing his services.

After wrapping up his football career, John pursued a career in coaching. He served as the offensive line coach at Totino-Grace High School in Minnesota, where Joe received his formal education. Alt’s brother, Mark Alt, is a professional ice hockey defenseman who has played for big teams like the Colorado Avalanches.

Due to his strong upbringing, Joe was selected for the 2023 College Football All-America Team. His career has been on an upward tangent, with his performances appreciated by pundits and teammates. He has been vocal about receiving tough love alongside valuable life lessons regarding the game from his father, whom he looks up to at any given stage of struggle.

Joe Alt’s life back at home and his commitment to personal development

Ever since his father played for the Chiefs, his grandfather has instilled solid religious values in the Alt family. Joe is of white ethnicity and, alongside his entire family, is a devout Christian, coming from a Catholic family. He even attended a Catholic school to further develop a close relationship with spirituality, underscoring how Jesus played an essential role in his life.

Opening up on his time living with his parents, he said, “It’s been great for me, resettling back home with my parents, living in my childhood bed in the basement.” This came after he decided to train locally owing to his connections to coaches like Alex Boone and Bill Welli. Emphasizing their methods, he said, “I fell in love with them and how they work.” This decision has helped Alt excel and impress during the NFL combine. It also provided him with an environment for growth. This deliberate approach shows his commitment to personal development as he prepares to transition to the next level. Even if he has to make sacrifices.
