Theodore Joseph Johnson is a Canadian tight end making waves at Penn State. Hailing from Ontario, where he showcased his skills at Holy Names High School, Johnson stood out in Canadian Football. His impressive high school performances earned him a four-star recruit status, and he had his pick of top colleges, choosing Penn State over other heavy hitters like Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia.

By his sophomore season, he was finding his stride, catching 19 passes for 213 yards and scoring his first touchdown in 13 games. But it was the 2023 season that really saw him break out, with 34 receptions for 341 yards. His performance caught enough eyes to earn him an invite to the 2024 NFL Combine, where he didn’t just participate, he stood out. Johnson ranked third in athleticism and fourth overall among tight ends, securing a prospect grade of 6.15. That score suggests he’s got the potential to be more than just a player; he could be a starting tight end in the NFL. As Johnson sets ripples of excitement across the NFL community, many have pondered over his familial background and upbringing.

Theo Johnson comes from a resilient family in Manitoba, Canada. Born to Nate and Amy Johnson on February 26, 2001, Theo’s early life was marked by some tough family challenges. His parents split up back in 2009 after some serious issues; court testimonies from that time reveal that Nate had allegedly been violent towards Amy and their children. Not much is out there about Nate, except for these distressing accounts from Amy. On a brighter note, Amy is truly an inspiring figure. After the split, she went back to school, pursuing a degree in social development while raising Theo and his five brothers—Dominic, Nathan, Levi, Michael, and Keon, on her own. Her hard work and dedication paid off; she’s now a lawyer and has been a partner at Johnson Miller Family Lawyers since 2020. Growing up in the countryside of Manitoba, Amy has instilled a strong sense of resilience and determination in her sons. Despite the difficult circumstances, she’s managed to provide a stable and supportive environment for her family.

Theo Johnson, the standout Canadian tight end from Penn State, is catching a lot of eyes as the 2024 NFL Draft nears. Let’s look at where he might land: Over at the Carolina Panthers, they need to jazz up their offense around young quarterback Bryce Young. Their current tight ends just aren’t cutting it. Enter Theo, with his solid receiving skills and blocking prowess. With Dave Canales now leading the team and his history of getting the most out of tight ends, Theo could definitely shine there.

Then there’s the Los Angeles Chargers, who might be losing Gerald Everett to free agency and don’t have a lot of cash to splash. Theo’s versatility could be just what they need, especially with his ability to be a big target for Justin Herbert in the red zone. And don’t count out the Los Angeles Rams. They could use some fresh talent to help out Tyler Higbee, who’s not getting any younger and is coming off an injury. Theo’s athleticism and blocking could really spice up their game. As the draft day gets closer, Theo Johnson is definitely a name to watch. With his range of skills, he’s a hot prospect for teams looking to boost their offensive line-up.
