According to Deion Sanders, he prefers to be perceived as “Coach Prime” by the younger generation. “When kids express that they know me as Coach Prime, that’s something I love,” added Sanders. Notably, Deion Sanders’ recently published book, “Elevate and Dominate,” had one line, where he expressed, “I want you all to remember me as Coach Prime.” This is indeed a beautiful way of Deion Sanders to express his future goals— a wish to build his legacy as a head coach.

On that note, when Joel Klatt asked him to elaborate on such an expression, the Colorado head coach added, “I like that because a coach has this connotation and this brand that he’s helping you get to where you need to go. During his appearance on the CBS Morning Show in 2023, Coach Prime expressed his gratitude to JSU for giving him the first opportunity to become an official head coach. He mentioned that this exposure led him to become the head coach of Colorado and a part of the Big 12 conference. “[JSU] was just a blessing to me, my kids as well as the program,” expressed Prime. “If it wasn’t for Jackson State, I wouldn’t be here.”

While it is true that the first year might not have met all expectations, it is evident that Deion Sanders is indeed working and putting effort into bringing CU back on its feet. In the meantime, all he wants from the fans is to have faith in his ability. “I’ve actually coached my whole life,” expressed Coach Prime. “I may haven’t carried the title, but I’ve been a guy who has seen the good in people… I just want people to believe.”

Therefore, with his extensive professional experience, Deion’s current focus is on establishing himself as a “Coach Prime” who can guide and elevate the current and the upcoming generation of college football players to the pro level.
