Along with other highly touted QBs like Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, Oregon’s Bo Nix is set to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Just a couple of weeks before the Denver Broncos rumors were put to the test, he revealed an intriguing story about his freshman year when he was at Auburn before transferring to Oregon in 2022. While in his freshman year, he enjoyed the hype and success by leading the Tigers to an early 27-21 comeback victory against the Oregon Ducks.

The hype led many Auburn fans to place their bets on Bo Nix and the Tigers in their game against LSU in Week 8 of the 2019 regular season game. But to their dismay, Nix fell short of their expectations as they fell 20-23 to LSU, completing 15 of 35 passes for 157 yards and one late touchdown. Nix has something to say about Auburn fans four years after the incident.

Bo Nix reveals the anger of fans

In a recent post on X, Sidelines – Bama uploaded an exchange between Oregon’s star Bo Nix and Robert Griffin III, in which the 24-year-old disclosed a Venmo incident that happened in 2019. Nix recounted, “We lost to the #1 LSU team in 2019 that won the National Championship… It was one of those couple losses that I was getting requests off venmo… I didn’t place the bet. That was your fault.

After fans started blaming him for the loss of the bet that they had placed on him, Nix had no choice but to change his Venmo. RGIII, listening to the story intently, gave his own verdict: “Not the venmo man, like it’s not your responsibility to pay their bills.” This not only brought out the erratic behavior of the Auburn fans who bet off of Bo Nix when he was a freshman at Auburn, but it also revealed the dark side of sports betting, where bettors take out their anger on the athletes when they lose. The story is in the past, and all that Bo Nix is focusing on right now is the upcoming NFL Draft.

Could Bo Nix find a home in Denver?

As draft day approaches, multiple sports analysts have projected Bo Nix to the Broncos. According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., he’ll be a potential No. 12 pick by the Broncos. The NFL Mock Draft Data Base projects the same result. Collegesportswire.com’s Patrick Conn and Sports Illustrated’s Nate Davis also project his potential landing place in Denver.

While some project him as a first-round pick, some analysts think otherwise. According to Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine, he could be a second-round pick. Ballentine gave his reason, stating, “Nix is already 24 years old. By comparison, JJ McCarthy is just 21. The age isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it does change expectations. With five years of starting at Auburn and Oregon, Nix should be a well-rounded prospect with few holes in his game.” Bo Nix finished last season with 4,508 yards, 45 TDs, and three interceptions. It’ll be interesting to see how he ends up in the draft.
