2018 7th Round Pick Jordan Mailata Pens Multimillion 4-Year Extension with Philadelphia Eagles

NFC East franchise Philadelphia Eagles endured a tough season in 2020. The one-time Super Bowl winners finished last in their division last season. Star quarterback Carson Wentz parted ways with the franchise as did head coach Doug Pederson. The arrival of young and passionate, Nick Sirianni, will kickstart a rebuilding period for the Eagles in the big league.
But one man who is hopefully going to stick around for a while is offensive tackle Jordan Mailata. The Australian international arrived in America via the 2018 NFL Draft. He was a 7th round pick by the Eagles (233rd overall). The youngster became the second player to join the NFL with no American high school or college experience after Germany’s Moritz Böhringer.
Mailata signed a four-year deal worth $2.5 million with a signing bonus of $89,392. Now, he has been rewarded with a new contract for his spirited displays ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

Over the course of the 2020 season, Jordan Mailata led the Eagles in sacks allowed amongst offensive linemen, with just 7 allowed. He was also the franchise leader in pass pro snaps with 502, equating to a pass pro snaps per sack score of 71.7, which was third-best on the Eagles behind Lane Johnson and Jack Driscoll. But his area of improvement involves run blocking and speed rushers.
Mailata’s performance led many to believe that he may be the starting left tackle for the 2021 season. On September 11, 2021, the Sydney-born baller signed a 4-year, $64 million contract that included a $40.85 million guaranteed amount upon signing.
