The New England Patriots have announced their majestic 2010s All-Decade Team, which includes 12 offensive & defensive players, and one flex player, kicker, punter and returner each. The 29 player team also includes one head coach and one special team player.

Ever since they announced the list of players, meticulously selected by the Patriots Hall of Fame Nomination Committee, fans are in a frenzy. The team is headed by the current coach Bill Belichick, who was the sole Patriots coach for 2 decades.

The current Tampa Bay Buccaneers players, Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady, made it to the team for the positions of Tight end and Quarterback, respectively. The team includes Nate Solder and Sebastian Vollmer for the Offensive Tackle position, while Logan Mankins and Joe Thuney hold the Responsible Guard position.

David Andrews was named the innermost lineman of the team’s offensive line, holding the center position. Julian Edelman and Wes Walker, the fastest players among the bunch, are Wide Receivers while James Devlin will dominate the full-back position. The offense team is complete with James White and Danny Amendola.

The New England Patriots Defense Team

The defense team is as dominating as the offense, with big names such as Chandler Jones and Trey Flowers leading the end. On the other hand, Vince Wilfork and Lawrence Guy are nominated for the position of defensive tackle. Veteran outside linebackers, Rob Ninkovich and Kyle Van Noy, also made it to the list. While Dont’a Hightower and Jerod Mayo took up the inner linebacker positions, Stephon Gilmore and Malcolm Butler made it to the team as cornerbacks.

The team is complete with Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung as Safety. The Special Teams consist of Stephen Gostkowski, Ryan Allen, Julian Edelman and Matthew Slater.

Are the Patriots fans happy with the team?

Patriots fans are considered among the passionate football fans. Hence, if such a list is released, they will discuss and deliberate on the inclusion of players. Though the team had obvious selections such as Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, there were some picks that bothered the fans.

The exclusion of Shaq Mason and LeGarrette Blount undoubtedly initiated a debate. Most fans preferred the 33-year-old running back over James White, who got signed to Pats in 2014.

As far as the defense team is concerned, most of the fans preferred Darrelle Revis over Malcolm Butler. They believe the Pats are prioritizing longevity over ability. Yet another unpopular opinion was Jamie Collins’ exclusion for Van Noy. Jamie Collins had a great 3 seasons with New England Patriots before he moved to Browns. He was consistently ranked as the top 10 outside linebackers in the NFL while he was with the Pats.

In conclusion, from the 28 players, 16 made it to the team with a unanimous decision. The raging debate amongst fans should settle down, as the committee obviously did not face much hinderance when selecting the players. Instead, fans should shift their focus to the next season as Brady’s departure will have the Pats searching for the perfect Quarterback to fill his shoes. Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham are reportedly the ones that Pats have chosen. Both of them will compete against each other during training for the starting position.
