2021 NFL Draft Prospect Wants to be Compared to Drew Brees and Russell Wilson

2021 NFL Draft prospect Ian Book is looking to transition from college football to the NFL. Book, currently is in his senior year at Notre Dame, has been stealing headlines.
Over the past few seasons, the quarterback has gotten several major accomplishments, including a Citrus Bowl win and a Rose Bowl appearance.
Ian Book spoke to the press recently about his future. When asked about his idols and inspirations in the NFL, Book mentioned Russell Wilson and Drew Brees by name.

Book noted that he modeled his game after their style of play. Additionally, Book also took inspiration from Browns’ Baker Mayfield, because he is fiercely competitive.
“There’s a few. I watch Drew Brees and Russell Wilson all the time. Those are my two that I love to watch. I watch them compete, I love watching Baker Mayfield. I love how much of a competitor he is. But those three, I love watching.
“I try to play a similar game as them. At the end of day, those three are just winners and they’re competitive. They’re super competitive and what they do is win and that’s what I want to do.”

Ian Book looking to make an impact in the NFL
Book has drawn a number of eyes to himself with his play over the years. He joined Notre Dame in 2016 but chose to take a redshirt, which allows college players to extend their eligibility beyond the natural 4 years of a standard undergraduate degree.
Book finally made his debut for the Fighting Irish in 2017. In his first season, Book was a secondary option behind other starting quarterbacks.

However, he did have moments to shine across the year. He famously came off the bench in the 2018 Citrus Bowl game to get Notre Dame the victory over LSU in a thrilling encounter.

Since then, Book has continued to improve on his play. However, he hasn’t experienced major playoff success during his college football career.
He has encountered many playoff defeats against major teams. Most recently, he and Notre Dame were defeated in the Rose Bowl by the University of Alabama.

Will Ian Book be a success in the NFL? He is currently projected to be a top prospect in the NFL Draft. However, not every rookie becomes a success in the NFL. And with the ambitions and inspirations of Book appearing very lofty, it will be a challenging road ahead for him.
