The spirits around their camp were high ahead of the next season, but one of their young players announced his retirement.

John Penisini, the 25-year-old defensive tackle, has decided to hang his cleats. It came as a surprising decision because Penisini was so young. He wasn’t a sure-shot starter on the Detroit Lions team, but he used to play on a rotational basis.
