Following the Seattle Seahawks‘ defeat against the Niners, the Green Bay Packers have done enough to keep their playoff hopes alive for now. By winning their game against the Los Angeles Rams, the Packer Nation can dream of a miracle to see them to the postseason. The team is currently on a 6-8 record for the season. After a slow start to their life in NFL, rookies Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson have finally started to help veteran QB Aaron Rodgers.
On Monday, the Packers brushed past the Rams to spread some Christmas joy to the home fans. While the inexperienced rookies in receiving corps have made their fair share of errors in earlier games, they proved to be instrumental for the team yesterday. But later, Rodgers, who just turned 39 this month, answered if the progression of the rookies would be a factor in his retirement decision. “I’ve really enjoyed being a part of their rookie seasons.” Added Rodgers. “But my decision will come down to mentally where I’m at & physically how I’m feeling.”

The quarterback has come under heavy speculation recently surrounding his future plans. The back-to-back MVP has been on a decline this season. Although his age has been a big factor when it comes to his retirement talks. The fact that he does have many weapons at his disposal makes it harder for the player to call. But he has assured the fans that more than the receivers, his decision will depend on his physical strength and mental fortitude.

A $60 million incentive for Aaron Rodgers to come back for another season
In March, earlier this year, the Packers and A-Rod came to an agreement for a contract extension. The 4 time MVP scored a 3 year $150 million deal for his services in the coming years. But the team lost their main offensive weapon in Davante Adams to the Raiders this offseason. While the team looks likely to miss out on play-odd this season, the deal adds another incentive for QB to return for next year. With the new deal in place, A-Rod is guaranteed to make around $60 million in 2023.

For the Packers, it makes it harder for them to start on a rebuild. It is tough to imagine a player turning down that amount of money. So the next best option for the team from Wisconsin will be to give their legend a few more options on the offense and hope he works his magic for them in the coming seasons.
