Last week, the San Fransisco 49ers bottled a 10-0 lead against the Tennessee Titans as they lost the match 20-17. To add salt to the wounds, not only did they lose the match but their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo sprained his hand while getting sacked in the second quarter.

Due to the injury, the QB missed practice on Monday with expectations of a return on Tuesday. However, earlier this morning, news broke out that the 49ers quarterback had missed practice. Later in the day, NFL inside Ian Rapoport revealed that the star has a torn ligament on his right thumb. The new details reveal the severity of the injury, and hence it looks like Garoppolo will surely miss the rest of the season.

With Jimmy Garoppolo looking set to be out and playoff qualifications hanging by a thread, the San Fransisco 49ers can’t manage to slip up now. Trey Lance is all set to be the starting QB come next game but there have been doubts regarding his abilities since he hasn’t thrown since Week 5. However, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan shushed all doubts with a positive update.

“I think this last month of Trey has been his best consecutive four weeks of practice since we’ve had him. He’s had a number of good days, and he’s had some bad days like most guys do, but as far as his consistency, I feel this last month has been his best,” revealed Shanahan.

The gaffer also shared how the rookie has improved his decision-making skills along with his physicality. “Throwing the ball better, making the right decisions better. I think he’s gotten healthier too. Just coming out of the preseason, coming out of his first game, I think his body has been doing better, so all of the above.”
