Oil tycoon Jerry Jones purchased the Cowboys in 1989, and they have since risen to become the world’s largest sports franchise. But according to Mirror.co.uk, Clint Murchison Jr, the Cowboys’ founding owner, was in negotiations with Donald Trump in 1984 to buy the franchise for $50 million. Trump balked and got his hands on the New Jersey Generals of the USFL for $10 million.

Former POTUS stated in an interview conducted by the New York Times in 1984, “I feel sorry for the poor guy who is going to buy the Dallas Cowboys. It’s a no-win situation for him, because if he wins, well, so what, they’ve won through the years, and if he loses, which seems likely because they’re having troubles, he’ll be known to the world as a loser.” 

But Trump’s prediction had a twist of fate, and Jerry Jones will now have the last laugh.
