A quarterback playing in the NFL is expected to possess a certain stature that makes him feasible for teams to play in that position. It is not just about his performance on the field but is also about the physical traits and qualities a player has to be able to play as a QB in the league. Generally speaking, a QB is expected to be over 6 feet tall, have big arms to stick to the ball like glue, and have a good physical build. This year’s No 1 pick QB Bryce Young does not actually fit the general consensus of what a QB should look like.

Standing at 5 ft 10 inches, questions have been dominant regarding Bryce Young’s value at the QB position. Were the Panthers right in drafting the QB?

Will Young shine for the Panthers?

It is the first time in the league’s history that a team has traded up for a top pick to draft a QB whose physicality might cloud his abilities to be a star QB in the long run. The Panthers had another option in the form of Anthony Richardson, who has an impressive arm to match his good build. But maybe the Panthers have made a smart decision in drafting Young instead.

He put up impressive numbers in Alabama. He had 8,200 passing yards, scored 79 touchdowns, and threw only 12 interceptions. With the team hiring Frank Reich as the HC, who went ahead to bring in a dynamic staff, maybe the team is looking to rebuild and structure the roster with promising prospects. And they see Bryce Young as a star with a lot of talent and promise in the league.

Whatever the reason may be, while prepping for the new season to commence, Young has a lot to prove as the No 1 pick of the 2023 draft in the NFL.
