Josh Allen joined the Buffalo Bills back in 2018 when they picked him as the seventh draft. He signed a four-year, $21 million contract with the Bills and has been with them ever since.

Admittedly, he faced plenty of competition for the quarterback role in spite of a decent run in pre-season. When the Oakland Raiders recruits AJ McCarron, Allen still played second fiddle to Nathan Peterman. During week 3 of the 2018 season, Allen led the Bills to their first victory of the season with a dominant first-half performance. He passed for 196 yards and a touchdown, adding 39 yards on the ground with two rushing touchdowns in a 27–6 victory.

The good news is that Josh Allen is well on his way to being one of the most successful quarterbacks. If he gets a winning season, the 23-year old could become the 4th-best quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.

Josh Allen is in elite company

When Allen eventually breaches the top four, he will find himself among the likes of Jim Kelly, Joe Ferguson and Jack Kemp. Kelly played for the Bills between 1986 and 1996. Kelly holds the 2nd all-time NFL record for most yards gained per completion in a single game with 44.

Meanwhile, Joe Ferguson played for Buffalo from 1973 to 1984 and established himself as a Buffalo legend. Ferguson placed in the top 10 in pass attempts five times. He also landed in the top 10 for completions and passing yards on four occasions, passing touchdowns six times, and yards per pass three times.

Finally, there was Jack Kemp, former quarterback-turned politician. Kemp led Buffalo to four consecutive AFL playoffs, three consecutive Eastern Division titles and two straight AFL Championships. He led the league in career passes attempted, completions, and yards gained passing.

In other words, Josh Allen should be honoured that he is set to close in on this elite group when the NFL season ends.
